Forfar Dramatic Society meets regularly on Tuesday evenings from 7pm and organises a range of activities that reflect the needs and interests of its members. It includes:

Stage productions
The Society stages two or three “Main Stage” productions each year, offering a varied programme of live theatre to the Forfar public. It also provides members of the group with range of acting and staging challenges. The line-up varies from year to year and includes a mix of established and more contemporary theatre. There’s also a good blend of comedy and drama.

Readings
Rehearsed readings of stage and radio plays offer members further opportunities to perform. They provide acting opportunities to people who cannot commit to lengthy rehearsal processes.

Workshops
Workshops in aspects of drama and theatre offer enjoyable opportunities for members to develop their skills. They cover all aspects of theatre production including acting, lighting, design and productions.

Hosting Theatre Activities
FDS owns and manages Studio 132, the theatre at the heart of Forfar. In addition to its own output, the group hosts productions by other groups. You can find out more about Studio 132 here.

Theatre Trips
The Society organises trips to theatre productions at venues including Dundee Rep, Pitlochry Festival Theatre and local venues in Angus. In addition to “whole club” trips, members often “self-organise” and share transport for a broader range of theatre trips.

Social Events

While drama and theatre are the shared interests for members, we recognise that the club has a social purpose. It provides opportunities for people to meet and enjoy each other’s company at a range of social events and functions.
